Kailah’s minimalist home

With the help of an airy colour palette and natural textures, reality TV couple Kailah Casillas-Bird and her husband Sam Bird, who share their reno story on Instagram @Casabird, have created a welcoming home that feels incredibly spacious.

When the couple took on the renovation of a small run down bungalow they knew they wanted a serene, calming space where they could take time out of their busy schedules to relax.

After adding a living room extension with skylights and wide bifold doors which flood the space with natural light, they chose to keep the layout simple and the colour scheme pared back. Shades of white and grey complement the clean lines while wood elements, including a feature wall, shelves and flooring, introduce a warm earthy vibe.  

Kailah said: “Before we started our renovation journey neither of us had installed flooring before. In our previous house we chose a laminate floor but we struggled with the snap together technology so we were really impressed with the simple installation of the Palio LooseLay range. Working together on the renovation has helped us grow as a couple so you could say that fitting the floor ourselves has brought us closer together!
